Documents On This Web Site
The Gallatin National Forest is attempting to provide all documents
related to the New World Response and Restoration Project to the
public via the Internet. Our belief is that this is the most convenient
and cost effective means to distribute these documents. Following
are directions and explanations related to project documents.
Project Reports
Project reports are provided in both Adobe PDF and Microsoft
Word version 6.0 formats. The Adobe PDF files may be viewed through
most modern web browsers by downloading and installing the free
Adobe Reader. To acquire the Adobe Reader click
here.
The Microsoft Word files require either Microsoft Word Version
6.0 or a word-processing program that can interpret Microsoft
Word version 6.0 documents.
The PDF versions of the reports contain all the narrative content
of the original reports and links to maps and graphics contained
within the reports. To access the maps and graphics you must click
on the "hot linked" name of the associated map or graphic
in the report table of contents. See the section below on maps
and graphics for a discussion of image quality and alternate image
formats.
The Microsoft Word versions of the project documents contain
all the narrative information from the original report but none
of the graphics. See the section below on maps and images for
a discussion of access to project maps and graphics.
Appendix's for all reports are not provided. To access appendixes
contact the Gallatin National Forest.
Project Maps and Graphics
Whenever possible, project maps and graphics will be provided
in both GIF and PDF formats. All the maps and graphics from the
project reports can be found in the Maps and Graphics section
of this web site. The graphics in GIF format can be read directly
by any web browser. They are relatively small files and thus download
quickly for viewing. Their image quality however is not always
very good. The PDF versions of the graphics are of higher quality
but they require longer download times. The PDF files may be viewed
through most modern web browsers by downloading and installing
the free Adobe Reader. To acquire the Adobe Reader click here.
